Harold was born in Fort William Ontario in 1958. He attended undergraduate studies at Huron College, University of Western Ontario, and graduated from Western’s law school in 1983.

He is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, Advocates' Society and The Middlesex Law Association.

Past Public service includes membership on the Ontario Review Board and the London Transit Commission. He practices civil litigation with emphasis on insurance defense and commercial areas of practice.

Like Sam Ryder, he took up golf late in life, but still pursues the game with irrational exuberance, sometimes with his wife.
